BARDIC - Pop/Rock spiced with Celtic Folk
Critics call the concerts of Sarah-Jane Himmelsbach and Eddie Arndt-Himmelsbach a journey through space and time. Since the duo had been founded in spring '97 they have shown with about 650 performances in Germany, at festivals in the Netherlands, in Belgium and with concerts in Ireland and Cornwall (UK), that it doesn't need more than two musicians, who play their music with body and soul, to abduct the audience into the lands of music.
BARDIC stands for acoustic handmade music.
Eddie's breathy powerful chant and the sort of dark timbre in Sarah-Jane's voice, that give the song a unique earthy character, his guitar-play, which provides a full-sounding fundament, and Sarah-Jane's virtousicly played violin-melodies, which show on the one hand her Irish descent - on the other hand her classical education, form a incomparable connection.
BARDIC are characterized by their musical openness. Their own compositions show they are at home in many musical worlds. In their acoustic rock/pop songs with an intensive melody they use the most different elements of this genre as well as of classical and different parts of world music. In addition, they flavour their program with melodies and tunes of Ireland and Scottland by playing them completely different from all those stereotypes.
Eddie and Sarah-Jane have also developed a fondness for reinterpreting other musicians's song in their own way. Also, there again is shown the big variety of their musically interests by their selection. The bandwidth goes from bands like e.g. New Model Army, Therapy? over Dave Matthews, Billy Bragg, KISS up to Reamonn and Vanessa Carlton.
It is fascinating with what kind of charism and art of play these two present their music. Due to their charm and delight in playing, Eddie and Sarah-Jane early have got a good reputation. Responsible for this are of course also plays on diverse local radios, on WDRRadio and WDR-television as well as performances on TV Berlin.
